Medway Schools Information On The 11plus Tests
You can now register online here.
Transferring from primary to secondary school is an important step and Medway Council wants to help parents by giving them clear information about the transfer process and about Medway Council schools. Children normally transfer to secondary school in the September after their 11th birthday.
Each secondary school produces its own prospectus which contains detailed information about the school, how it is run and what is taught. These prospectuses are available from schools themselves. Schools also run open days and evenings where parents will be able to take a closer look at the school, meet pupils and staff, and ask questions. Parents can visit as many schools as they like to help them make up their minds about which school they would prefer for their child. Schools want to work in partnership with parents and will welcome enquiries.
To assist parents in understanding the admissions process Medway Council produces an information booklet which aso contains details of each of the secondary schools and information on how to make your school application. The Admission to Secondary School Booklet 2012 will be available from the beginning of June 2011. You will be able to get a copy from your child’s current Medway primary school, from Student Services (Admissions) Team or a copy will be available to view on this page at that time.
To use this and the other pdf files on this page, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have it on your computer, please use our advice page.
The Secondary co-ordinated scheme and admission arrangements (pdf 137KB) for secondary schools sets out how to apply for a secondary school place and the timetable for selection tests, applications and receiving an offer of a school place in 2012 and includes the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools.
The admission arrangements for secondary schools set out how many places are available at each of these schools and the way in which places will be allocated if there are more parents seeking a place than available places at a particular school – the over-subscription criteria.
Medway Council is the admissions authority for community and voluntary controlled schools. These schools are Greenacre School and Walderslade Girls School.
Academies, Foundation and Voluntary Aided secondary schools
